Every Philosophical branch in india, had a guru. He founded that thinking process. Sankara founded the Advaitha Philosophy, Dwaita by Madhva and Visishtadvaita by Ramanuja. Saiva siddhantha, likewise, has Meykandar as its Adiguru. Although it is fine to say. so, the followers of these philosophies believe that their thinking process came to the world through these acharyas from God Himself. This is the real religious custom. Even Buddhism and Jainism declare that there were more Buddhas before siddhartha and more Thirthankarars before Mahavira. It is true. All philosophical thoughts cannot come, all of sudden, in a short period. It needs and develops in ages. Some scholars, wise and saintly, came late and compiled these thoughts. That philosophy had a name on its compiler. But really it is as ancient as man.

   These acharyas, as the compilers later called, founded a lineage which was called upadesa santhanam, It consisted two parts: one called Internal lineage (Akaccanthanam) which originates from Lord Siva or Vishnu. The second one is called external (Purasanthanam) followed during generations.

The heads of the mutts, who come in this lineage, are called sannithanangal or Aadheenakarthar.

 

   In Kaumara sect, Lord Muruga is the prime deity, worshipped by even Lord Siva, sage Agasthiya and saint Arunagirinathar, a man. The first one was a celestical anecdote to ascertain the greatness of guru, the other two are the symbols of religious initiation given to the disciples by a guru. Therefore they are initiators to wisdom.

   In this way lord Muruga becomes the first acharya of internal lineage (Akaccanthanam) and Arunagirinathar becomes the first acharya of external lineage. (Puracanthanam) Vannaccarabam Dhandapani Swamigal was the second acharya on this land.

From that great Vannaccarabam Swamigal, Swami Ramanandar had his initiation and founded this Kaumara mutt. It is thriving with grace and service for last generation. After sannidanam (Ramananda swamigal is being called so by his devotees not mentioning his name) Kandasamyswamigal and Sundaraswamigal followed the divine path of the guru and did wonderful service to religion and society. At present Thavathiru Kumaragurupara Swamigal is in the graceful throne as the fourth pontiff and the activities go on with zeal and sincerity. A small note below shows the lineage.
